...Saying Goodbye to Gwen... 2016-8-9 ..

...   It's been just over 2 weeks since my sister Gwen passed away due to a stroke......

...She had been very ill with Poly Myalgia Rheumatica and Giant Cell  Arteritis....  (not arthritis)..  this affects the arteries in the head and can cause blindness and strokes....

...  She had some small strokes earlier this year.....   and had to have a lot of tests and biopsies done for diagnosis of the condition....   she was in a lot of pain all the time.... and there is no cure for these conditions ....

.... we all miss her so much, but it's a comfort to know she is out of pain ....

.. she is in Heaven now... God took her home.....

This was the sunrise on the morning of her funeral...

                                                    ........It was so beautiful......
This is part of Coomba Park on the Wallis Lake near Forster  NSW... it's about 4 hours drive from where we live. We stayed the night before and the night after the funeral so Mum wouldn't be so exhausted...  she actually  handled it very well..

The service was held outdoors in the Green Cathedral on the shores of the lake..  it was very serene and peaceful.... but a bit cold..  here's Mum all rugged up in her wheel chair....
....  it was a long and tiring three days for us all.....  especially Mum......  and Gwen's husband is still trying to come to terms with her passing..... I think it will take a long time ....

On the morning after the funeral we had some lovely Lorrikeets visit  us where we were staying....  it made us all  smile...  hubby couldn't resist going out and hand feeding them....  obviously they are used to this....

..  this was a week ago and we have slowly returned to our normal daily routine and  life goes on.....  I don't think the sadness will go away for a long time though  ......

...   hugs....   Barb  xxxxx

  1. A sad post with sweetness and beauty sprinkled in.
Lovely to see the lorikeets being hand fed and glad to see your mum was warmly rugged up.
    That dawn was beautiful.

  2. .. thanks River.... it's a lovely area around the Wallace and Myall lakes. We rented a little beach cottage for the 2 nights. My other sister Trish (who used to blog) was 3 cottages away from us and my son and his wife was around the corner. We all want to go back and have a holiday there.
We have lorikeets around where we live but they won't eat out of your hand... they do go and eat the flowers that are growing on the balconies of the units next door to us..
    ... hugs... Barb xxxx
