... New Flooring is Down and Beautiful xxx

...on Tuesday 15th July our new flooring was installed ... and we Love It ....

The installation guys arrived at 7am which was wonderful... we had been told they would arrive at 9am... they were early and eager to get started. We couldn't have asked for a better start to the day..

We had put all the small furniture pieces in the lounge room the day before so only the fridge and freezer had to be moved and they just went from one side of the room to the other as the fellows worked.... it was great.

Hubby made a secluded corner for Mum and I behind the furniture and we spent the day there with the heater going... all snug and comfortable ....and... out of the way... we played yahtzee and relaxed. I was able to walk carefully through the chaos and make a cup of tea and coffee and Hubby bought us hot Fish and Chips for lunch....  we were looked after very well.

I only took a couple of photos of the ongoing work as I didn't want to be in the way......

I think these locking vinyl planks are a great idea. They went together so easily.... it wasn't a quick job because of the time and care needed to make sure they were locked in properly and the joins were sealed. A lot of banging with rubber mallets..  lol...

We had our Kitchen, Dining room, Laundry, Toilet and the big Family room all done in the same flooring...
The installers didn't want to come back the next day to finish  the job, so the Boss asked Hubby if we minded if they stayed later to finish in the one day...
...of course he said.. 'No Problem' ... so they stayed and didn't leave until 6.30 pm.. that was 11and a half hours that they were at our place.... we were so impressed and happy with the workmen..... xxxx
I gave them an 11 out of 10 for their work.....

Here are the finished floors .... one continuous look ... I love it..

...looking through the dining room to the back door.....
... from the Family room looking into the dining room to our little hidey hole behind the furniture you can see in the lounge room ..
.... dining room into the Kitchen ..... it's so great to have all the floors new and matching..... xxxx

So pleased this part is finished... now it's on to a 'very cheap' kitchen make over that I'll share soon.....

Every Thursday my Mum has a lady come and stay with her for 3 hours so Hubby and I can do something together.. like go out for lunch, or go to a movie.... it's great.. Today we are going shopping for some finishing touches for the  kitchen and some non-slip mats for in front of our chairs in the family room. The ones we had slip on the new floor... lol....
I love this kind of shopping... xxxx

Talk to you soon.....
Have a great day everyone...

Hugs and Blessings

  1. Looking good is it warmer in the back room.
When we had the carpet pulled up and the wood floors done it was much colder but mats always keep the warmth in.
Will see the job tomorrow bye for now.

  2. It does look lovely Barbara. I like the continuous look throughout the house too. If I had my way (and my own home) I'd have tiles in all living areas, front to back and polished boards in the bedrooms.
I look forward to photos of your kitchen make-over.

    1. ... my daughter had tiles in her downstairs and I found them cold and they gave me shin splints... I like a softer more forgiving floor.Polished floors are wonderful.... we have them in our hall and lounge room. Give Angel a pat from me...

  5. Hi Barb, I found you via Stephanie's blog. I love your new floors. So glad that you were pleased with the workers and that they finished in one day. My husband and I kept my Mother for 10 years before her passing. We had a great time together and occasionally my friend would sit with Mother to give us time to "have a date." That is always nice for everyone. I look forward to seeing your kitchen updates too.
Enjoy the weekend. Mildred in Georgia, USA

    1. hello Mildred so nice to meet you. Thank you for visiting.
my Mum has lived with us for nearly 6 years now, she is 97 and very independant.
She has a lady come in and stay with her for 3hours once a week and my sister comes and stays with us regularly......so it's easy for Hubby and me to have lunch and do things together .. we're very lucky.
      Hugs and Blessings..
