Warning.....this post contains photos of spiders...among other things..

We have had a lot of wind and rain over the last three days........when there was a decent break in the rain I went out and took photos of the garden.....

......this succulent is looking fine ... I like the pink starry flowers........

................. raindrops on the leaves of the May bush........................

......................................the Seneco vine is  is doing well.............

........ grey skies through the branches of the tree out the front of our house.......

...WARNING...... the next three photos are of Spiders.......feel free to skip  them....OK..

....I know not every body likes spiders.......including me!!!! BUT ...I do like taking photos of them in the garden............
.The top one is a Net Casting spider... he has a net, like a fishing net, in his front legs..the lower ones..he is upside down........he flicks this open to catch small insects.........
The next one is a Leaf Curling spider.........I  have never seen one put a 'roof' on his leaf before.....
The last one is an ordinary small garden spider........two of these live near my clothes line.....
If they get too close to the clothes line or come into the house ....they are DEAD........

OK.....Change of Subject

The weekend of the16th  & 17th  two of my daughters and my 18 yr old Grand daughter were visiting  and I took this opportunity to go through  my make up and nail polishes  and let them take what they wanted.   They were thrilled and I cleared out a drawer.... Win-Win all round....

I also re-sorted and paired all my Knitting needles and was suprised to find I had over 70 pairs....I think maybe I should pass some of these on....hehehehehe...

.......I put the paired needles through pieces of foam rubber to keep them together...........
.... The   l.a.r.g.e   needles were made for me  by my darling Hubby  so I could  knit a wall hanging......
...this hanging is packed away  in our roof space..... when I'm able to get it down, I'll  post about it..

Bye for now.....Have a good day, all
God Bless

This weeks happenings..

I've been concerned about leaving my Mum alone while hubby and I did the shopping.
Mum finds it too tiring  to come with us now....Bingo on a Monday and a regular visit to the doctors is all she feels up to these days...
We looked around for a device she could use in an emergency........and we found this amazing mobile phone...........

It is a regular mobile phone ..BUT... you can program it to automatically sound an alarm, make a phone call and send an SMS to  pre set mumbers all at the same time... just by pushing the red switch on the back. Mum loves it  and I can relax, now.  Of course I still won't be leaving Mum for extended periods of time.....
My brother comes over one day a fortnight and spends the day with Mum..... he fusses over her and cooks cakes...She loves it..... Hubby and I go to the movies on these days........yesterday we saw two movies....sitting in the theatre eating cake and drinking hot coffee is quite a treat...

Tonight Hubby decided to do a BBQ for tea ...

Here he is slicing the veges.....and meat patties...

...doing the cooking...and the finished meal....
                                                      smothered in mushrooms..... very,tasty....

..........here's my baby patiently waiting for 'his share'...........

Have a good day.......will post again soon..

A Beautiful Day

Happy Valentines Day to everybody....... xxxx

Hubby and I went to a local cafe and had a lovely breakfast for Valentines Day.

We had 'homemade' Waffles with maple syrup, ice cream and strawberries..and.. large coffees.......Delicious....

Later in the morning I went browsing in the Garden...to see what I could see........and this is what I found..

A large cream flower on my cactus......

Some small self-seeded Begonias were flowering........

   New fronds on the ferns....

The Nodding Violets .....were starting to flower, again....

The Plumbago always looks lovely...it's a favourite of mine...

I found this little spider in it's web and tried to photograph it......not too good/not too bad.....

....and....I discovered that my Hubby had planted an onion in with my Violets.....
...reminded me of a song we used to sing when I was young.....
" I'm a lonely little Petunia in an Onion Patch"  ... only this was  "a lonely little Onion in a Violet Patch"

Apart from the Plumbago hedge, my 'garden' is a higgledy piggledy...collection of plants in pots.
I love being able to re-arrange my garden whenever I like..without digging anything up.....Hubby likes this ,too.

See you soon
Have a good day

hello from the Wimp..

I've come to realise that writing a blog is not always an easy thing to do.

I have discovered that I have a very limited range of interests.......and I think everyone gets bored with looking at the same things ... so I struggle with  'what to write about' and don't write anything..

I'm a better 'commenter' than writer.... I love reading  everyone's posts..

I'm a bit of a Wimp.........

I'm glad I got that off my chest....it seems a little silly seeing it in black and white, but that's the way it seems to me...

Some Garden pics..

The Plumbago is looking lovely ..I love it growing over the arch..

The Tree Begonia is heavy with flowers...I love the'sparkly' look of the buds.....

The Bromiliads  have some new flowers...

Mum's pink Hydrangea  has faded to a lovely green.....

and.... the Hyacinths are sprouting.........

All in all... the garden is doing OK...... I just need to spend a day or so weeding to bring it to it's best...

I'll put up more pics soon...

How early is too early.....

Hello Ladies,
I had an embarrassing situation happen yesterday morning...

We were expecting friends at 12.30pm for a 1.pm lunch at our place...
Hubby had gone to buy fresh bread rolls to have with the delicious sausage casserole I was cooking

I had the casserole on cooking by 7.30am and the  housework done early..... Mum and I were still in our p.js, having a cup of coffee before I had my shower and dressed for our visitors....
WHEN....at 10.30am ......the doorbell rang............ our visitors arrived.........YEP .. 2..WHOLE HOURS EARLY........

' GO HOME AND COME BACK LATER'  ..........  were the first words out of my mouth........

These dear friends just laughed and explained that they had needed to do some unexpected errands   and they finished earlier than they expected so decided to come early.............

SO.... after coffee, I changed and chatted with them until Hubby came home with the groceries.....
W e ate lunch early...I was so glad I'd chosen a casserole....they are so forgiving, time wise...

The meal was lovely... we sprinkled cheese and shallots on top....with fresh rolls ..yummy...

For dessert, we had choc/caramel muffins,  (my brother made these the day before)..swimming in cream.....double yummy....

Doesn't this look lovely.........I love desserts dripping with cram..........

Sooo....after a 'early' start  .... we had a lovely afternoon.....

Have a nice day

A carefree day out

Hello,

Hubby and I had a lovely day out today without worrying about leaving Mum alone too long.....thanks to my brother who has decided that every second Tuesday he would like to spend the day with Mum.
He brought a nice lunch for the two of them with him.........and then cooked some delicious Chocolate Caramel Muffins... the house smelled wonderful when we got home.....so I'm using this for my Day 5 ..photo a day....which is  'Something you smelled'

Hubby and I spent our day out by going to the movies and lunch.....
We saw Flight with Denzel Washington...... and had  Stir fried veges with honey chicken...

It was lovely to be able relax and not watch the clock.  Since Mum had a mini stroke just before Christmas I get stressed if I'm away from her for more than an hour.. so Hubby has been doing the shopping on his own.

Later in the afternoon, my youngest daughter and I went to our local pool and had our first session of water walking.  We plan to do this twice a week...we both need to lose weight.....
My 'cozzies' hanging on the line is all I'm going to show of this new undertaking...

Tonight , Hubby only wanted a snack for dinner. He decided to have his favourite.... tinned Spaghetti on toast....which fitted in with tomorrow's photo subject ...Soft...

Tomorrow we are having visitors for lunch and because this the weather has turned cold , I making a nice warming Sausage Casserole with fresh bread rolls......should be nice..love my slow cooker.

Enough of the food....
I have discovered  Zentangle.. and I love it..
One of the ladies doing the Photo a Day posted a design she had done and I thought it was lovely ...so I  Google-d  up Zentangle and I've been  reading all about it.
It is similar to the patterns and designs I used to do in art class at school 60 years ago....I plan to recapture my childhood.....hehehe....should be fun.

Have a good day, people...
I'll see you soon

Feb Day 2...pattern.....

Hello.....here's day 2 .......pattern..

This is my kitchen window box.
I took this photo through the fly screen on the window and if you look closely you may be able to see the pattern of little squares in the mesh.....

I also like the 'cross'  dividing the photo and the 'curve' at each end of the planter...

I had fun thinking about this.....

Have a good day

February 1st.....Fork

Hi...
Today starts a new month...Feb.. and the subject is....Fork...

I found this fork in a second hand shop.
I liked the pattern on it and also the way it looked so worn ....
.....like it might have been a favourite fork...

I couldn't just leave it there, unappreciated......
.....so now it lives with me.
