Some decorations

Hello everyone,
Hubby and I are enjoying putting up our decorations. He got very creative with a print we have hanging on our dining room wall.

......he attached material to the frame of the print then hung this pretty winter scene over the material. The scene is illuminated with led lights that twinkle. He put the light green tinsel around the edge to finish it off.
We love it. The Merry Christmas sign is used every year on this wall.

I bought this green metal tree with coloured jingle bell on it. I changed
the red and green bells for handmade crystal bead ornaments that I bought specially for this project.......and I think it turned out very well.

..............................this is our newest heirloom Christmas decoration.....................

I hope you enjoyed seeing these 2 Christmas projects we worked on.
We will be putting up some wreaths and tinsel tomorrow.
Have a good day,

It's starting to look Chrismassy

Hello everyone,
I started to put up our Christmas decorations today.
I love this time of year and I love things that twinkle and sparkle...makes decorating easy.
I gave over half the decorations we had away earlier this year.and as yet I haven't used all that I kept...just shows we had way too many decorations.

Santa came to the Frog Garden..the top one sings and the bottom one croaks Jingle Bells

                                                                   A little fibre optic tree

This wreath with our family name on it  was a gift from our son and his wife....we love it

I put these white pointsettias  in the lounge room for Mum...she likes softer colours.....

My welcome Angel is looking very lovely in her red and green

The outside entrance to the dog's door got a little festive touch....

That's all for now....
I post more when I've finished decorating..
Have a good day

Whimsy in the Garden

Hello......I'm happy to say I'm now well again. Thank you all for thinking of me.

Two days ago my Husband re-arranged the garden for me. I love my potted garden and my Hubby.  He
always moves the plants around..no matter how many times I want a new look in the garden.

This time we gave  4 small potted palm trees to our daughter Mary......and that space couldn't be left empty ..well it couldn't.....and so it began...........
This is outside the kitchen window....the plants are sitting on an outdoor storage cupboard Hubby built.
I think it looks neater and more spacious without the palms.......

We then looked at these two areas............

The shelving has Peace Lillies on them and they are starting to get thick ..so it was time to move....
The stand in the other pic has all my Bonsais on it ............

So ....we switched.......

.....and moved the empty plant stand to a different area of the garden.........
The Bonsais look nice spread out like this............

..the Begonia moved to where it had more room to spread and the plant stand move to where the Begonia  had been.........if you look closely at the top right hand corner , you can see the bottom shelf where the Bonsais are.............................we have a   TINY    space...I just love making it sound Grand..........

Now for the Whimsy...........
while Hubby moved all this around , I got busy with some Frogs and other ornaments......
.............Frogs.....sunbathing  on the Orchid House......(actually an arch over some shelving ...and yes it does have orchids growing here)

                                                    .........Frogs................ around the pond..............

                             ...Frogs in the Bonsais......................

.
.......................This is the Rock & Frog garden I made near our front door........

And, my sweet little solar powered Dancing Frog......

These little groupings  are cute and unexpected........that's what I like....something to make visitors look twice.

I put out 53 frogs and when the young Grand-kids come they'll be asked to count the frogs..like a treasure hunt....but you leave them there ,,just count them.

OK..... back to some housework now I'm well again
Have a good day

Impromptu 'Party'

Hello ... anniversary update......
My eldest daughter stayed at our place on Friday night and on Saturday morning decided we couldn't have our 50th Anniv. without a party........sooooo ...during the day she rang her brother and sisters and invited them to our place for tea that night.....and they came. We ordered in Thai food and they brought cakes and flowers.......It Was Nice.

The bowl the rice is in was one of our  wedding presents that I had given no.2 daughter ages ago...she brought it to use  50 yrs later..........sentimental..and I love it!!

Looking Good ....even if I say so, myself.  I'm pretending I don't feel sick...the things you do for your children, eh!!

A beautiful Peace Lily, flowers and ...my favourite.....Ice Cream Cake......Yummo..!!!

We were given these two lovely glass hens to go with the large pink glass hen I already have..

My sister from Coomba Park embroidered this for Hubby and me......she does lovely cross stitck..

We were given a lunch cruise around Sydney Harbour on a Tall Ship...this is a replica of a 200yr old sailing ship.......looking forward to this when I'm well again...

These are Congratulatory messages from the offices of the Prime Minister, the Governor General, the Premier and other people in government..federal, state and local.....Hubby got our son and d-i-law to arrange these as a suprise.....Isn't he thoughtful!!!

This painting was done by my friend, Merle. She used old photographs of us to create her impression of how we looked on our wedding day....we have no wedding photos...... and we love it

Hubby and I decided to play around with taking our photo with the painting to have a Then and Now photo.
We used the timer on the camera and had some fun...we quite liked this one, but bossy daughter no.1 said 'no way....dad's nose is on your face'......
So  I photo edited it.....................

And.............came up with this. I cropped the photo and gave myself a little more hair in the before version so Hubby's nose is now in front of me....

This beautiful photo album was given to us about 14 years ago. The covers are wood and I love the heavy hinges. We have been saving it for this anniversary. The brass 50 was on the pot the plant we got as a pressie and Hubby put it on the album. This copy of our "Then and Now' photo has been creatively adjusted by me with a marking pen...I think I look lovely with lots more hair....If only that were true...ah well..we take what we're given. eh !!!

I've enjoyed sharing our special day with you all..
I hope you enjoyed the pics........

Have a good day,

ps....I know everyone knows I'm from Australia.......but I keep signing off this way from habbit..it doesn't feel right if I just say Barb, after all this time.  xxx

Some bits and pieces

Hello...I'm rambling a bit at the moment..Hope you don't mind!!

Here's my little g-grandson, Tobey. who has just started to roll onto his tummy.......seriously cute

Here's Max, nearly 2, talking to his little bro, Tobey, 5mths ......they laugh together a lot

these birds came down to the outdoor table.....Max loves the birds

I saw this on a power pole when I went out shopping with a friend...no idea what it's for ..interesting

This is a quaint  little 'arty' arcade in Parramatta..... I love unusual signs....

After I re-did my hallway and gave away a LOT of our books.....I found I was looking at other things with questioning eyes
" do I really need or want this????"
So..
In the last two weeks I've been through my craft cupboards and have donated supplies to an after school centre
And ....
Passed all my jewellery making tools and supplies to my grand-daughter-in-law..

I'm finding culling and passing things on is quite liberating.........
.I never thought I'd say that.
I'm a 'hold on to everything' type person

Turning 70, reaching our 50th anniversary and having bronchitis again has got me looking at ways to make life a little simpler.

OK...I've rambled on enough for tonight......
Good Night
Have a good day
