testing time

Hello fellow Bloggers,
I have been having a wonderful... (if stressful) ..time this week.
I have been updating a Blog that I hadn't done anything with for nearly a year.I have completely redone the colour,background,header,..You name it ,I fiddled with it !! I like my new direction.
I was embarrased to find that some nice ladies had left comments there because I didn't have clear info on this blog.I apologise for this.

O.K ...This Blog is my main blog called  barbsbabbling
My other blog is  Barb's Random Things
And  the blog I share with my sister Trish is  Vintage Grace
The links to these are in my blog list.........

Because of losing Blogger support I followed the advice at the top of the page and checked out Google Chrome, I installed it and found I couldn't understand it . I tried doing things in G C but just got more confused. I couldn't use my password and had to register a new one... Then I found an uninstall option...SO I went and uninstalled G C.   I was happy with this.
I had to re-do my password..but..I'm happy to say things are back to normal now.

I have put the same up-dated blog list on both my blogs.
All I have to do now is get some help regarding browser support.
I need simple proceedures to follow ...

Putting the old brain to bed now !
See you soon

Soup and Bread

Hello World
Today I was very adventurous.
I decided to make Italian Chicken Wedding Soup and Herb Focaccia Bread.......from scratch...!!!

I got the recipes from the Internet....I actually combined a couple of recipes to use ingredients I liked for the soup.

Wedding Soup with chicken, pasta, spinach, threaded egg
and parmasan cheese

making the Focaccia

almost ready for the oven

Sprinkle of rosemary

And...the result smells delicious
It tasted wonderful

Hubby wants me to make it again
My daughter and her Italian family will be pleased I've finally
made Italian Bread !!

Have a good week

flash summer storm

Sat.11.feb.2012 --SUMMER
This year our Summer in Australia is the most un-summer weather we have had for many, many years.
We are having torrential rain and flooding all down our east coast, hailstorms and towns being isolated, roads turning into rivers.
We were on our way to a friend's place when we drove through this storm ...driving was reduced to a crawl.

reduced visibility

cars by the side of the freeway

headlights behind us

water over the road spraying up

starting to ease off --sky lighter
passing under the line of storm clouds

comong to the end

like it never happened

I hope we don't get caught in too many storms like this

Have a good week
God Bless

Mum's Wardrobe

We have been doing a furniture re-shuffle over the last few days.
My brother-in-law and his wife are moving from their 3 bedroom house to a 2 bedroom unit closer to their daughter, and needed to 'share' their excess furniture.
My grandson and his family are getting two single beds.
My mum  has been given their large three piece wardrobe and the linen cupboard she had is going to the grandson.
Re-use  Re-shuffle  Re-cycle  ......... Everybody  Happy

'new' robe

it's quite large

shoe rack inside robe- mum loves this

middle section - empty storage space

last section - more empty space

transition time

mum's things on racks in lounge room

mum's linen in lounge room

the 'old' robe

.......... in new position near door

room looking elegant...............mum very happy

I like keeping things in the family when possible...
in this instance...3 homes..3 happy families
a for all!

Have  good week
Happy Valentine's Day

Living with Kyton

I'm sharing the hardship that my dog, Kyton, has to live in.

He has a bed and toys

but he likes to sit with wherever we are

even when it's a tight fit

he likes to spread his bones and toys around
I put them away...he takes them out again

This is our back room....... Kyton lives here...............

Kyton's Wardrobe
Do you like his Snoopy  jacket........

or maybe his fleecy lined Denimn coat

Maybe   his raincoat with reflective safety strips

He's happy with his pyjamas....look at that smile....

This is his favourite winter jumper

All Kyton's wardrobe pieces are gifts from my grandchildren........they liked  him in fashion clothes when they took him for walks...........he's too big for these clothes now

I bought him this neck scarf collar when I was in France last year

He likes to follow the sun......from inside the house

POOR BABY.........

I hope this has given everyone a good laugh,

Have a good week

my lacey life

I've been thinking about the ways blogging has improved my life and I find that Trish's meme name L.A.C.E explains this very well.

L.....for Lovely
I look forward to seeing all the lovely gardens, tablescapes, craft, rooms, china collections and homes that are posted every week. I look for beauty everywhere now.

A ...for Admirable
I find it wondreful  how I can discuss anything that is on my mind and there is always someone who has kind words and a prayer for me. This makes me feel good about myself.

C .. for Cheerful
I like all the happy smiles on little ones faces and all the quirky things people come up with to decorate their gardens and homes. I find I look for things to make me smile more now.

E .. for Encouraging
I'm not all that good as a blogger or photographer....and I'm  totally appreciative of all the encouragement I recieve from my fellow bloggers. This gives me the incentive to keep trying to improve my skills AND myself as a person

Sooooo ... Thank you all for helping me in  growing in a LACEy life.......
And ..especially thanks to my lovely sister, Trish.....without  her  help and encouragement I wouldn't know anything about blogging..

Have a lovely week, everyone
God Bless

Joining Simply Sweet!, and yes Trish, I'm trying to simplify my style of living and it's a bit hard to let go.

This week I've been through my jewellery, hats, bags, shoes and clothes and have put some of everything aside for the grandchildren.
The clothes are new and have been in my wardrobe for ages.
The shoes and bags are some of my favourites, but I haven't used them for ages.
The jewellery I made from frames and lenses of sunglasses...I had a lot of fun making them.
BUT it's time to say 'goodbye' to them

I used the arms from 2 different pairs of sunnies for this
I dipped them in boiling water and bent them with pliers

This is a complete pair of glasses bent and twisted and
held together with large jump rings.
The drops are the lenses cut into pieces and hung.

This pendant is clear lenses with paper cutouts glued
onto the backof the lens and ealed with black paint

Pieces of irredesant lenses cut, drilled and joined with jump rings

These next two pendants are clear lenses worked from the back

I love these hats .. but haven't worn them for 3 years

These handbags are ones the kids like off they go

Hair bands, scrunchies or clips anyone...

Winter hats, gloves, warm socks and clothes

I'm a bit of a hoarder as you can probably tell.  I am working on this, and I'm having success in passing thing on to family and to charity in most areas of my wardrobe except shoes...I still have 25 pairs in the cupboard.  I am actually pleased with this..I used to have about 60 pairs. I was a compulsive thrift shop shopper but I've broken that addiction and I'm actually getting hooked on de-cluttering.

I hope everyone has a good week
God Bless
