Summer Bag

Hello World,A while ago I made new handles for this bag -- but I wasn't all that happy with what I'd done -- so I re-decorated the bag and put fabric handles on it -- and now I love it----
It's amazing what buttons, beads and lace can do .

My Day Out

Today, my friend Merle and I went to the city(Sydney) for our yearly visit to the Art Gallery of New South Wales to see the entries in the prestigeous Archibald Prize for Portraiture.

We walked across the beautiful Domain park......

and past the Archibald Fountain

We had coffee among the trees

We sat here and watched the late afternoon sun through the trees in the Domain

afternoon tea

Hi Trish,
I read your post today and I think Lady Lily Rose is  very beautiful and elegant and I was wondering if she would do a favour for a special friend of mine.
You see, my friend Miss Margaret Mary has no friends and has seen some hard times. Her wardrobe could do with a makeover and this embarasses her. At heart she is a gentle soul.
Do you think Lady Lily Rose and her friends Lady April and Lady May would be kind enough to invite Miss Margaret Mary to their next afternoon tea?  I'm sure she would appreciate their kindness.
Many thanks,
Barb from Australia

p.s. Sorry I couldn't rotate Miss Margaret Mary so she is up the right way. B

new car??

Hello World,  We are at an interesting and potentially exciting place right see, Kevin is trying to decide if he is going to buy Gwen's father-in-law's car.

He wants to buy it....he says we can afford to buy's a 5yr old car in perfect condition.......our current car is over18yrs old and looks like it's ready to fall apart...........I think 'no contest--buy the car'........but Kevin won't make that final commitment Thursday, Mum Kevin and I are going to Gwen and John's to see the car and spend a couple of days with them .
the plan is to   A..  go up by coach and if we buy the car--drive home
or                 B...get the coach both ways

I think Kevin is enjoying "The Delicious Thrill of 'Will I or Won't I' Buy The Car"

Whatever he decides-- we'll enjoy the visit with Gwen next week
(interesting times -eh!!)

brthday report

Hello World
"Thank You" to everyone  who commented on my daughters birthday trip to Melbourne and sent her B'day wishes
She had a wonderful time and got to meet her favourite chat show host. :-) :-):-)
The show is broadcast live so we taped it for her to view later. To add to this excitement ----they can see themselves in the audience....... Good one  Girls.....:-D
They used room service and told me they could get used to that lifstyle ;-) wink wink
They enjoyed getting lost driving the rental car around the city.
They were so excited when they got back to our place to pick up their car that they were all talking at once, laughing and waving their arms around and trying to tell us everything in 5 minutes.
A very successful trip and a good time had by all....
Mary said it was 'The Best Birthday Ever'
I was so happy for her :-D

Bye for now

Happy birthday Mary

Hello Everybody,
Today (19th May) is my youngest daughter Mary's birthday -- she turns 45.
She hasn;t had the best of health for the last few years and her family decided to treat her to a special combined Mother's Day and Birthday present this year....They booked her into the audience of her favourite daytime live talk show.....for today ....... HER BIRTHDAY.......She was in tears on Mother's Day when she rang to tell me what they had arranged.  She said she didn' realise how much they  loved her.
Her daughters took her to Melbourne last night, ready for the show today. They were fussing over her hair and had chosen what she was to wear.. (they are 17 and 20)....the three of them were so excited..
I am writing this post today and joining with Trish at L.A.C.E    and Dayle at Simple Pleasures
to celebrate the special bond my daughter has with fer family.

New from old

Hello World,
this is my latest project
I got tired  of my 20+ yr.old Ugg boots looking  shabby and sad ..... so I decided to re-birth them as Tribal Boots using wool and chain stitch embroidery.  I'm nearly half way through the first boot and I'm thrilled with the results so far.    Maybe I'll get another 20+ years out of them!!!   This is definately a one off project for me . It's a lot of fun doing this .......but......... awkward and time comsuming...........not like embroidering on flat fabric.

bye for now

mum's flowers

The balsam seeds I planted for mum are looking very lovely. The flowers were a kind we hadn't seen before, so I looked it up on Google and found out they were 'Impatiens Glandulifera' also known as 'Himalayan Balsam'. ----Next time I plant anything I'll keep the packet so I'll know what it is.----
Anyway -- here are some photos--  hope you like them.

The broad lower leaf is a landing platform for bees .

This is the planter box from inside the kitchen.

I will be saving some seeds for planting next year as the flowers are so unusual.
                                                                   Bye for now
