More Bingo

Hello World,   Well we went to free bingo in our local shopping mall on Friday and Mum had a very good day.
She won 2x$10 vouchers for K Mart and a $20 meat voucher for our local butcher.
Looking forward to next month..........

The rain seems to have stopped for a while, and, the sun is trying to come out, but with no wind there won't be any drying outside today. It will have to be a tumble dryer in the laundry day.

We watched the Royal Wedding last night (all channels were showing it), and it was lovely.
The ladies fashions --especially the hats --- were interesting in the colour and style choices to say the least.
How the satelite dish hats stayed on is a mystery to me --lots of pins I suppose----
We wish William and Kate all the best in their life together.

My sister Gwen is hoping to come down on Thursday and spend Mother's Day with Mum and us. She has had bronchitis and hopefully will be well enough for the trip. Mum is looking forward to seeing her.

Three of my Grand-daughters went together to a Justin Bieber live concert on Thursday night and enjoyed screeming themselves hoarse. Glad you all had a good time girls.

Hubby is not impressed at the moment ---the Sat. paper hasn't arrived --- this will put his weekend routine out of whack. He does look forward to the weekend papers.

Mum is having a sleep-in today and when she gets up and sees the (weak) sunshine she will want to do do her washing, and this will involve Going out at regular intervals and turning the clothes inside out and re-hanging them , and turning them upside dowh and re-hanging them so that they get the benifit of the sun from all sides. I understand the logic in doing this-- and Mum takes a great pride in doing things properly..
Me...I'm a hang it out and forget it person;
Anyway I'd better get a move on with the daily chores so I can help Mum later.

News Flash ------The paper has arrived ---we're back on track.

Bye for now and God Bless

recycling

Hello Everyone,
I had  been trying to figure out how to join a long chain of plastic ring seals together or a long time.
I wanted to use the left-over rings from last Christmas's decorations to make a card/picture hanger my grand children could use in their bedrooms.
I woke up on Sat. morning with the solution pictured in my mind.
I was excited and said 'Thank You' prayers to God all day.
---I realise more experienced crafters would have the know-how,but I didn't, and God gave me the answer I needed --

It was so simple--I just had to crochet half-way around one ring and then join on the next ring and crochet half-way around it, adding as many rings as I wanted to......then come back in the opposite direction, closing each circle.
I did this and the result was just what I wanted.
I have added little craft pegs to hang things from.
I plan to colour co-ordinate the colours to each child's room, and do some in Christmas colours.

                                                              I love the result.
                                                              THANK YOU
                                                                     GOD!!

Knitted Squares

Hello World,
Yesterday we delivered 104 knitted squares to our local charity. Mum was thrilled to see them go to be made into blankets for the needy.( not bad for a 94yr old lady,eh!) Mum has made knitting these squares her mission. It's wonderful to see her interested in making a difference in the life of others. She motivated her niece to knit squares too.  Good one Mum!!
Mum has arthritis in her hands, but she does'nt like to sit around doing nothing, so she knits squares in all colours. It's like watching a rainbow coming to life.
We originally sewed the squares into baby blankets, but now we donate the squares as squares so they can be put together to make ponchos, knee rugs, scarves etc. as needed.
I hope I can be as productive in my old age as Mum is in her's.
Love ya Mum xxxx

Bye for now
God Bless

Seed to Flower

Hello world,
On the 25th of February this year I planted some balsem seeds for my Mum.We wanted some colour in the planter box outside the kitchen window.
They sprouted in 7days which we thought was really fast......
NOW, 8weeks from planting the seeds, we have FLOWERS......
Mum and I are very pleased with the results of our gardening efforts.
As more and more flowers open, the view through the kitchen window will look more and more beautiful.
What a lovely miracle a seed is !!!!!!

Washing Basket Table

Hello everyone,
About 45 years ago my Dad made this outdoor table for my Mum to put the basket of washing on so she wouldn't have to bend to hang out the wash. After Dad died and Mum moved into a small unit, the table was used as a pot-plant stand in my yard.
Today I cleaned up the table and brought it into the house. I recovered the top in what is supposed to be "rustic style" and put the wooden bowls my husband made on the table. I think it looks great.
My 'simple pleasure' this week is finding a new use for an old favourite piece of family history.

wedding portrait

Hello everyone,
I hope you all had a good week.
My husband and I were given a very special gift this week, from our friend Merle.
Background.....
When we were married we didn't get photos of ourselves together on our special day.   (General mix-up of who was taking photos of who ----- lost film ---- you name it -it happened to our photos...)
In 2012 we will be married 50 years and I'm planning a special day.
In preparation for this special anniversary,Merle got photos of my husband and I  taken around the time we were married, and from these she painted this Wedding Picture for us.
A fantastic and generous gift !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
                                                     Thank You Merle.......

Kyton

Hi Everyone,
I would like to share how happy I was on Tuesday this week. We had left our dog Kyton with a friend while we took Mum to visit Her daughter Trish for a weeks holiday.( It was lovely to see them together.)
When we got to Bob's house on Tuesday evening to pick Kyton up, we were pleased to be told that he had been well behaved the whole time we were away.
So my Simple Pleasure this week is twofold  ......1, Seeing my Mum and Sister together in my sister's house.
and ,   2, Kyton being a good guest in our friend's house.
What a good week.
God Bless

Travel Wardrobe

/Hello Everyone,   As you may know,I have just spent a week at Trisha's with our Mum and my hubby. Trish was helping me with blogging hints and also gave me some advice on ' What to Pack For France'. This has been a real problem for me as I always overpack.
Because I'm going in September, I was practicing with the Orange autunm weather and sure enough---- I had packed too much  AND  not enough warm things.....Good to know now....
So now I'm back home and I have re-thought my wardrobe and I'm happy with my final choices.
I have 18 pieces of clothing that will combine to make 36 assorted outfits, covering day and night, warm and cold weather and be comfortable for plane travel.
Thanks Orange, thanks Trish.

We had a wonderful holiday with Trish and her husband and family. It was helpful to get Trish's insight on how our mum was doing. A fresh pair of eyes often see things that the one in the situation has overlooked.
( as was the case here)
So once again ---- Thanks for your hospitality and help Trish. Love You Sis !!!!!
