changable space

Hello Ladies,
This week has been a good week for me. I have been re-arranging furniture and re-locating the contents of  two china cabnets. The two cabnets will go to one of my daughters and we are putting a day-bed in our lounge room (where the cabnets were) for  more versitile guest sleeping. I sorted and flat stacked the books in our hallway so that they take up less space overall but fill each section completely, not just a row on the bottom of the section.
This left me with enough freed-up shelving to display the contents of the two cabnets. Wonderful!!!!!
My Simple Pleasure this week is knowing our 9yo grand-daughter will have a bed in a different room to her brothers, when they come and stay with us.

Books,books,books

Hello World,
I've set myself the mammoth task of re-sorting and re-packing our book shelves. I arranged books by size (just for balance-you understand) and that disorganised the 'by author' arrangement we were using. The problem with this system is that some books in the same set are DIFFERENT sizes and don't fit on the shelves properly. If I lay the bigger books flat and stack them one on top of the other they don't look as nice as I'd like.SOOOOO, I will try keeping the normal paperback size books in the hall book shelves and the larger books in the bookcase in our lounge room ----BOTH by author. This means that we will have to go from one place to the other to check book sets but I think that is a small price to pay for the look we both want.
This system should work as long as we don't add to the sets we already have ----BUT---I think we'll worry about that if and when it happens.
You see my husband has an e-reader and downloads his books from the internet now, so we're not adding books to our collections at the same rate as before. His e-reader can store hundreds of books and is small and light to carry and use. He loves it.
I'll keep you updated as to my progress .
Should be good fun, and all my shelves and books will be fresh and clean.
Bye for now

b.b.q. bliss

My husband loves cooking on the b.b.q.
He often checks "what's for tea tonight"
And if it's sausages, chops or steak,
He offers to cook it for us.This includes the veges.
So my simple pleasure this week is ----
Watching my husband cooking a meal for us
Outdoors.

2011 Plans

Hello World, I've been contemplating what I will be creating for this year, apart from Hats for the Homeless, and I think I've come up with a Good Idea.
If I get my hubby to make me some wooden daisy looms the right size for all the ring seals from 2liter juice bottles that I have collected, I can make and put a daisy inside each ring and use these for all sorts of crafting and decorating projects. I could incorporate beads, use a daisy on a photo frame, use as Tree Decorations for Christmas, magnets,  --- etc.  etc.   etc. ----- and ----- it fits my criteria of lightweight and portable.
I think I'm getting excited.
I'll keep you posted on my progress.
Will post photos.
bye for now

New year thoughts

Hello World,
Just a quick note to wish everyone a good year.
I "bit the bullet" yesterday and went to Bingo with Mum and Merle. It was the first outing for fun Iv'e had since I had my 5 bottom front teeth out.I was a little (actually a lot) embarrased and self concious about the big gap in my mouth, but nobody commented  and I slowly relaxed and enjoyed myself. Merle won a tray of steak. so we all had a good day.
Lesson learned --again,  People don't notice as much about you as you think they do. We are each the centre of our own little world and are so caught up in what we want to say and do that we don't always "see" the people around us.
For me yesterday, that was a good thing.
Sometimrs it's not a good thing, and we could be more open to the needs of others.
Sorry I didn't mean to preach.......

On a lighter note ---
My MUM turns 94 on the 9th of jan.
She is a remarkable woman who is still  very self-sufficient. All I do for her is hang out and bring in her washing and cook the evening meal.
One amazing lady.

My sister Gwen is coming to stay with us in a few days time, and visit with Mum.

My NewYears Resolution /Motto is      "don't stress --put the kettle on"

Will be in touch
Bye for now
