Christmas day

Hello,
We had a verry quite Christmas Day lunch at home.
Hubby went and picked up a friend who was on her own this year, and brought her over for lunch with us.
I sent 'elf yourself' e mails to all our children and their families. They all loved seeing their own faces on little dancing elf bodies. You can do up to 5 elves in one dance routine, so I was able to get each family together in each email.... it was a great hit!!!

We enjoyed the lunch and time with our friend.  My brothers came to visit later in the evening. Wonderful!!!
Hope everyone had a nice Christmas Day.

Christmas corner

Hello,
I have a large matching fridge and freezer, and after years of children playing with magnets on our old appliances, these ones stay pristine..........except at this time of year when I allow two special trees and a few cards to decorate them.
The trees are coiled tinsel on pull apart stands and are very lightweight.....I love them. This is the only place they are displayed.

Tree before assembly

and........after

and here they are on top of the fridge and freezer

I think they look lovely, and when we open the doors they sway wtih the movement. Actually, we have old wooden foors that move when we walk on them, so our little trees wobble quite a lot..cute..
The unit in the middle is pull out pantry shelving on wheels....I store beads and craft bits in it.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everyone

Lyla &Max's Party

Hello all,
We went to a combined birthday party for our g-grandchildren today, and it was terrific!
Lyla tuned three last weekend and her brother Max turned one a few days before that. We didn't have a party for them last weekend because we had a party for our grand-daughter Lisa who turned twenty one..
The littlies mum and dad figured having their party one week late wasn't a problem at their ages.

Hello all,
Today,Tues, I unwrapped my hall and lounge room.
I was going to leave the paper up for Mum's birthday in January..but she has said she doesn't want any fuss...and definately no party!!!
Soooo....the decorations for our Christmas get-together and for Lisa's 21st party have been mostly taken down.
I left some tinsel  up and put out some nativities for our quiet Christmas lunch .......just Mum,me and Hubby.

treasure

I like council clean-ups ... people throw away the most amazing things!!
In our last clean-up I found this broken clock that I realy liked.

I brought the clock case home with me and put it on my front verandah until I decided what to do with it.

I thought about painting it....
or maybe stripping it back and staining it...
or maybe a touch of gilding to highlight the patterns .......

finally,I decided to leave it as it was ....just dust it off and  use it to display some pretty flowers.....

I really like the way this looks.....soft and delicate...and it took no work to achieve...how good is that!!!

                                                       A  Real  Treasure  Indeed

Have a good week everyone,

Growing up

Hello World,

I have  a question.........how long doe's 'growing up' take?

I'm 69yo and I'm still struggling with the 'maturity thing'.
I can go quite a long time living in harmony within my home
and then suddenly  I'm childish and spiteful.
This shocks me and my family when it happens.
I become all 'why me' and hurt feelings.
Then I'm upset with myself for being like this.
My family worries about me.
I pray about this problem a lot!

I think that growing up and maturing is a daily journey I'll be on for the rest of my life.
With God's help I hope to be more of a blessing to my family,
and fall by the wayside less and less.

God Bless

three x one

Hello,
Today I started to decorate the house for Christmas.
This year is a special challenge because two weeks after our Family  Christmas Get-together, one of my grand-daughters is having her 21st birhtday party here, and then early Jan. my Mum is turning 95 and we're having a small party here for her.
What I needed was a colour scheme that only needed the finishing touches changed to be suitable for all three occasions.......and I came up with pale silver and gold bauble printed wrapping paper and plain silver wrapping  paper to cover all my shelving in alternate stripes, and lots of silver and gold tinsel.
With this as an elegant all-purpose base, I plan to display Christmas ornaments and then replace them with lilac bows, baubles and beads for my grand-daughter and then replace them with flowers for Mum.
Soooo today I did the stripes and put brown paper over the contents of the book cases  AND started putting out the Christmas Ornaments..........

Before

Before

Wrapping

After

Ornaments

I'm confident  this plan will work.
I just need lots of lilac  and pretty flowers and everyone will be happy and that will make me happy.

I hope you all have a good week
God Bless
